Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist

Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist - a dilapidated temple of the Tikhvin diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, located inside the fortress Oreshek Orekhovy Island of Lake Ladoga; administratively belongs to the city of Shlisselburg, Leningrad Region.
It was erected in 1826-1831 and until 1917 it was a garrison prison temple of the fortress. Destroyed during the Great Patriotic War. Since 2010, the temple has been active and has a rector who from time to time conducts divine services in it. Attempts were made to restore the church, but they were unsuccessful due to the opposition of museum workers and officials.

Monument to the defenders of the fortress "Oreshek"

Monument to the defenders of the Oreshek fortress during the Great Patriotic War in the destroyed St. John's Cathedral. The fortress was badly damaged during the Great Patriotic War. In 1941-1943. for 500 days, a small garrison of soldiers of the 1st division of the NKVD troops and sailors of the 409th marine battery of the Baltic Fleet defended the fortress from German troops who failed to cross to the right bank of the Neva, close the blockade of Leningrad and cut the road of life.

Museum-Reserve "Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad"

The museum was opened on May 7, 1985 and is dedicated to breaking the blockade of Leningrad in January 1943 during Operation Iskra. It is located 40 km from St. Petersburg. It is part of the Proryv museum and memorial complex, founded in 1990 on the basis of this diorama museum. It is located in a granite room, built in the form of a pillbox from the times of the Great Patriotic War and built into the architectural structure of the left bank ramp of the Ladoga bridge near the village of Maryino in the Kirov district of the Leningrad region, at the site where fierce battles took place.

Bolsheokhtinsky bridge

The bridge of Emperor Peter the Great or the Bolsheokhtinsky bridge, is a local cultural monument of St. Petersburg. The bridge was named “Emperor Peter the Great” when it was laid in 1909 on the significant date of the 200th anniversary of the victory of Peter I in the Battle of Poltava. The bridge stretches 335 meters, went through restoration and redevelopment. Now the crossing has a modernist highlight, with which it looks even more fascinating.

Smolny Cathedral

The Smolny Cathedral is located on the left bank of the Neva, in the area of ​​the Smolny Dvor, in the place where the resin was cooked for the manufacture of ships. Built in the Baroque style. The architecture of the ensemble organically combines elements of Old Russian architecture and European architecture. The construction was started by the architect B. Rastrelli in 1748. The height of the cathedral is 93.7 meters, the building can accommodate up to 6,000 people. According to the architect's plan, the tallest five-tiered bell tower in Russia (140 meters) was to be built nearby. But these plans were not destined to come true. Rastrelli died in 1771 without seeing his creation in its final form. The entire monastery complex took 87 years to build, the interior decoration was completed only in 1835.

Crosses

"Crosses" is a former pre-trial detention center in St. Petersburg, one of the most famous and largest in Russia. The official name until December 2017 is the Federal State Institution Detention Facility No. 1. It is located at the address: Arsenalnaya Embankment, 7. Currently, it functions as a corrective labor colony, about 200 prisoners in it are engaged in the repair of the facility itself and other economic services.

Nameless Height

"Nameless height" ("Hill of Glory") - a monument in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region. The memorial was built in 1965-1968 (architect L. I. Kopylovsky, sculptors G. D. Yastrebenetsky, V. G. Kozenyuk). The memorial is dedicated to the soldiers-defenders of Leningrad, who participated in the battles at the Ivanovskiye rapids and in breaking the blockade of Leningrad on the Sinyavinsky swamps in January 1943. The slopes of the 20-meter-high artificial hill, similar to a pyramid, are covered with turf; there are observation platforms made in the form of acute-angled ledges, to which stairs lead. There are bronze sculptures on the upper platform, memorial inscriptions are placed on the ledges of the platforms.

Blagoveshchensky cathedral

Simultaneously with the founding of the Oreshek fortress, a graveyard appeared on the left bank of the Neva River, in which, by definition, there was a temple, which was destroyed by subsequent military events. After the fortress was liberated from the Swedes, Peter I ordered the construction of a wooden Orthodox church in it. The opening took place in October 1702. However, soon the Church of the Annunciation fell into disrepair, the wooden structures rotted, and in 1725 the church, which at one time kept the relics of St. Alexander Nevsky, was dismantled. The consecration of the newly built stone church took place on August 8 (19), 1764.
